Louisiana Economic Development Certification
Taimerica is currently putting on an ED Certification program for LIDEA, the Louisiana Industrial Development Executives Association. The Certified La. Economic Developer designation (CLED) program is designed for those ED professionals, Chamber of Commerce staff, elected officials, and local civic leaders who are interested in learning more about economic development. This high quality program, second to none in the U.S., is being taught by nationally recognized experts and all content is tailored specifically to the state of Louisiana. The 2011 schedule of courses is now available, and course dates are listed below. Most courses will be held at the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives in Baton Rouge, and exceptions are noted. The Louisiana Basic ED Course was held Feb. 1-4, 2011. The course is accredited by the International Economic Development Council. It fulfills one of the prerequisites for those who wish to take the examinations for the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation. The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to helping economic developers do their job more effectively and raising the profile of the profession. When we succeed, our members create more high-quality jobs, develop more vibrant communities, and generally improve the quality of life in their regions.

Alternative Energy in Economic Development was taught by Ed Bee and Charlotte Batson, with Sumesh Arora of the Mississippi Technology Alliance, and held April 4-5, 2011 at the Lafayette Economic Development Authority in Lafayette, La.
The Louisiana Real Estate Development and Reuse Course will be taught by Mark Waterhouse, President of Garnet Consulting, and held June 21-22, 2011 at the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives in Baton Rouge.
The Louisiana Business Retention and Expansion Course will be held August 23-24, 2011 at the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives in Baton Rouge.
The Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer Development Course will be taught Oct. 25-26, 2011 in New Orleans.
2010 Schedule
The second Louisiana Basic Economic Development Course was held Feb. 23-26, 2010 at the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives in Baton Rouge.
The Economic Development Marketing and Attraction Course was held May 18-19, 2010, and was taught by Rob DeRocker, formerly of DCI, and Mark James of ED Solutions.
The Economic Development Finance Course was held Sept. 21-22, 2010. It was taught by Dr. Judson Edwards, Dean of the Sorrell College of Business, Troy University, Alabama.
The Building the Workforce of the Future Course was held Nov. 9-10, 2010, and was taught by Ted Abernathy of the Southern Growth Policies Board and Jeff Lynn of Louisiana Economic Development.
2009 Schedule
The first Louisiana Basic Economic Development Course was held March 2-5, 2009 at the
Louisiana Emerging Technology Center on the LSU campus.
The Louisiana Real Estate Development and Reuse Course was taught by Mark Waterhouse, President of Garnet Consulting, and was held June 30-July 1, 2009 at the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives in Baton Rouge.
The Louisiana Business Retention and Expansion Course was held Sept. 10-11, 2009 at the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives in Baton Rouge. It was taught in part by Eric Canada of Blane, Canada Ltd.
The Louisiana Strategic Planning Course, taught by Dr. Dave Kolzow, was held Nov. 17-18, 2009 at the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives in Baton Rouge.
